The Faculty of Law, Universitas Medan Area (FH-UMA) in collaboration with the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPN Veteran Jakarta) held a series III online seminar (Webinar) free of charge and open to the public. The theme of the online seminar held on Friday (May 29, 2020) is “Legal Protection of Children’s Rights during the Covid-19 Pandemic Period”.
The online seminar was also attended by the Faculty of Law Functionaries namely the Dean of the Faculty of Law UMA, WD I Zaini Munawir, SH, M.Hum, WD III Ridho Mubara, SH, MH, Head of the Ika Khairunnisa Simanjuntak, SH, MH and the Head of Criminal Sciences Arie Kartika , SH, MH and lecturers and students from several universities also joined as online seminar participants with 130 participants.
The webinar was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Medan Area Dr. Rizkan Zulyadi, SH, MH in his remarks the dean of the UMA law faculty allowed speakers to motivate the participants especially the FH-UMA students to study. This webinar is also in line with the vision of the UMA Faculty of Law, which is to become an excellent Faculty and able to produce critical, professional and moral practitioners and academies.
The speakers at the webinar this time were Dr. Beniharmoni Harefa, SH, LLM from the Law Faculty of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Jakarta (UPN Veterans Jakarta) who is a lecturer and serves as the Head of the MH Veterinary UPN Study Program in Jakarta and moderated by Revi Fauzi Putra Mina, SH, MH lecturer at the Faculty of Law at UMU with Chairman Paniti Muhammad Yusrizal Adi Syaputra, SH, MH.
In the online seminar the speakers explained a lot about the privileges of children and special treatment of children along with differences in the law against children. As the basic rights of children contained in (United Nations Convention 1989) ratified Presidential Decree 36 of 1990, namely the right to survival (the right to survival), the right to growth (the right to development), the right to protection (the right to protection) , and the right to participation.
